Assam Agricultural University, Jorhat is a premium institute of NE India pertaining education, research and extension in agricultural and allied sectors. The University has received the 14th rank in NIRF ranking in 2024. It is the single agricultural university of the state and the oldest in the region, which was established in 1948.
AAU is well connected by train, air and roadways. The University is around 300 km away from the state capital Dispur, Guwahati. The nearest major train station is Mariani, approx. 20 km away; and the Jorhat airport is 3 km away from the University. Regular luxury buses ply from Guwahati.
